Kata Mambo Sails

All day excursion to St. Pierre, Carbet, and the deep waters for dolphin watching.  Excellent experience that included the stars of the day...the dolphins, swimming, later snorkeling in a spot with incredible sea fans, urchins, and fish, and lunch on board the catamaran.

Water Colors in Martinique

Well, yes, the water colors are stunning in and around the island.  These water colors are the work of Susan as she paints some of her favorite scenes.

The Rainforest of Martinique

Jardin of Balata is up the mountains towards St. Pierre, the highest elevation of Martinique.  This peak was responsible for wiping out the former capital city, St. Pierre at the turn of the 20th century.  Just one man, a prisoner, survived.

Today, Balata Gardens offer visitors an opportunity to see the mountain from close proximity and the amazing flora that pervades this part of the island.

Le Marin - Zanzibar

On the way to the Atlantic Ocean we planned a stop at a new restaurant in Le Marin.  Zanzibar is located right across the street from the sea and a rather large marina.  The dining facility is located on the second floor giving early arriving guests a table facing south, with an excellent view of the sea.

Today's lunch was one of the better  meals I've served in Martinique.  It's on our list of favorite places to dine.

Scones in Le Diamant

It was fun knocking out a batch of Michigan Dried Cherry Scones while in our Le Diamant kitchen.  The results exceeded my expectations.  Wish I could hand you a few of these.

A day in Anse d'Arlet

Anse d'Arlet is sort of our 'go to' easy beach day.  Our favorite restaurant is there.  And, the beach has it all....great close to shore snorkeling, white sand beach, and happy people on the beach.  All ages, all colors, a few topless ranging from age 2 to sixty something??).  The French are not shy about it, nor are they preoccupied with it.

Here are a few pics from the day.

The Trip to Carbet

On the way to Balata Gardens we missed a turn,  Really, we never miss those.  Well, not as much as we used to.  About the same frequency, I think.

We ended up driving twice as far to Carbet, a very cozy little village on the western side of the island just south of the famous Mt. Pelee, destroyer of the former capital, St. Pierre.

We were here last year.  But, it seemed more awesome the second time around.  Definitely worthy of it's own day trip.  We hung out a bit before driving back.  Sunday is the only day to travel the 'N' roads, expressway type, as the area around Fort-de-France is congested and busy most of the times.

The photo of me in the shade.  I'm having a 'ginger' moment.  Ginger Potato Chips and Ginger Ice Cream.  They both got the thumbs up.
